Origin

Material provenance

Top-layer cowhide in Sakya Blue and Elephant Grey. The leather is vegetable-tanned using traditional methods. The conch shell pendant is carved from natural shell by hand. Sakya tricolor woven strap made from hand-loomed cotton in red, white, and blue.

Technique

Craft process

Each bag is hand-assembled over 2-3 days. The conch shell pendant is individually carved and polished, each one unique. The bag features multiple carrying options: crossbody, shoulder, or hand-carried. The tricolor strap is adjustable and interchangeable.

Intent

Design logic

The Joyful Bag references the sacred conch shell of Sakya Monastery, one of the Eight Auspicious Symbols in Tibetan Buddhism. The conch represents the sound of dharma reaching all beings. The bag's versatile design allows it to adapt to different occasions, embodying the spirit of '瑙侀椈娆㈠枩' - joy upon seeing and hearing.
